A little bit of interesting facts on Whitchurch

Founded by the Romans, who called it Mediolanum - the place in the middle of the plain - Whitchurch is ideally placed for exploring Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.

Whitchurch is home to the firm of J.B Joyce the oldest clockmakers in the world. Their work can be found across the globe, but no town has more examples than Whitchurch. In fact there are amazing public clocks all over the place.

The Heritage and Craft Centre allows you to spend time with Joyce, the Romans and much else besides.

If you want to get out and about, the Jubilee Park is the starting point for five long distance walking routes, including the Shropshire Way. This will take you to the Llangollen Canal and a flight of staircase locks at Grindley Brook, about a mile out of town.

Alternatively you could take one of the many town trails. They may be less demanding but are no less interesting. There's a Clock trail and Children's Town Mouse Trail too. The town trails have another advantage as they take in all of the shops and most of the pubs!
