Glass-to-Floor Orangeries

It isn’t written in stone that an orangery has to feature a dwarf wall. Because of this we are capable of creating a glass-to-floor orangery that accommodates large pieces of glass that stretch from top to bottom of the design. This means that you get a fully unobstructed view of the outdoors and the maximum amount of natural sunlight passing into its gorgeous confines.

Enter and exit the orangery in style...

    • One of the options that will come up when planning your orangery will be the inclusion of a door in the design and you have three types of door to choose from; Bi-Folding Doors, Patio Doors or French Doors. Having a door will make it so much more stylish and enable you to move between your orangery and home or orangery and garden with sophistication.

    • Your orangery and the outdoor environment can virtually become one when you opt for Bi-Folding Doors as they can create dramatic openings that blend together the two environments. The door leafs are beautifully made and done so in such a way that they fold with simplicity and gently glide across the stainless steel runners. They are a technological feat.

    • Your orangery will feel as though it has doubled inside when you have a set of Patio Doors prised open as you will be able to readily flit between sitting inside the setting and chilling out in the garden. Their usefulness will really pay off during the summer months when the weather is more conducive to hosting a barbecue for friends and family and the Patio Doors are there to aid everyone’s enjoyment.

    • The generous double opening of a French Door is a big attraction for people buying an orangery as it allows you to blend together all the benefits of the inside and outside all in one place. They’re elegantly designed too from top to bottom and have a distinct quality that differentiates them from most other door options.

  • Frame Options

Choose between a traditional or sculptured frame...

    • The frame of the orangery is one of its most distinguishing features due to the dimensions and contours that run through it. The difference between a traditional and sculptured is noticeable so have a good look at them both before green lighting the final orangery design.

    • UPVC makes for a perfect material in orangery production as it is durable, energy efficient and maintenance-free. It also has lasting qualities and can endure the passage of time so there’s no chance of your orangery ever reaching a stage when it looks outdated.

    • An orangery needs to demonstrate toughness from the moment it starts being used which is why aluminium has increasingly grown to become a favoured material for constructing orangeries. Very few materials can rival aluminium in terms of strength which makes it all the more surprising that it can easily be moulded and shaped into those extraordinary slim sightlines that you see in an aluminium-built orangery. Sublimated woodgrain finish can also be applied to make it look like timber.

    • Your orangery can be made to look as though it was created from another age but with all the modern features it needs when you choose to go down the Heritage route. It is inspired by the traditional 19th Century sash timber window and looks exactly like it, even down to the hardware which includes peg stays, monkey tail handles and butt hinges. An old favourite beautifully updated.

Every orangery needs a reliable roof...

    • The atmosphere within an orangery can only be cosy and comfortable if you have a top quality roof fitted to it. We offer three different types of roofing systems for orangeries; the Classic Roof, Cornice Roof and the Lantern Roof. The Classic Roof is a popular choice for obvious reasons but the Cornice and Lantern roof are two very good alternatives.

    • It has been coined as the Classic Roof because it has been used in orangery design for many years and proven its worth time and time again. There are many different reasons for its ongoing popularity, one being that it enables you to have a lengthy piece of transparent glass so that you get the most wonderful views of the skies above the structure.

    • The Cornice Roof is a real showstopper and guaranteed to capture the eyes of those who walk into the orangery. You can have it coated in a number of enduring finishes so finding a colour that complements the brickwork walls and the rest of the building will be simple enough to make everything look uniform.

    • Sometimes the Lantern Roof is referred to as an Atrium Roof and it is particularly noted for the fantastic thermal efficiency it provides for orangeries. Never will there come a time when the orangery gets too hot in summer or too cold in winter as the Lantern Roof will help the structure maintain a consistently comfortable temperature, what the weather.

  • Colours & Woodgrains

Coat the frame with an appealing colour...

    • Your orangery will only have maximum impact if you have it finished in a dashing colour that shows it off at its best. Rather than limit you to a few traditional finishes we have created a generous selection of colours that can be used internally and externally so prepared to be totally spoilt for choice. Transform it into a timber-style orangery by having a woodgrain finish applied.

    • An orangery needs to be able to cope with the elements so whether it’s raining, sleeting or snowing it should remain leak free and look as good as it did at the time of the original installation. UPVC will afford you this luxury as it is weather-resistant and it also comes in a great selection of colours including traditional white and black, grey and Chartwell Green.

    • A strict 11-stage powder coating process is followed each and every time we create our aluminium finishes and that’s what helps to make them look so authentic and natural. The moment the finish is applied to the frames of the orangery it sticks to it like a magnet and stays that way for good so you never have to worry about repainting or varnishing. It’s worth checking out our woodgrain offerings in Walnut, Rosewood and Oak too.

    • Timber was the material used when orangeries were first built and done so with great success. But where timber does fall down is with the level of maintenance required to keep it in good condition as once the weather gets hold of it the wood weakens. Despite this, people still have huge affection for the stunning appearance of quality timber so we have created the Heritage range, a modern take on timber without the need for upkeep. It has been designed in the style of a 19th Century sash timber window and is available in Cotswold Biscuit, Cream and Painswick.

We have an efficient buying process at Premier...

    • There are many considerations that need to be made before our team of fitters get to work on building your orangery and we will take them through you them all so that you are fully informed of everything. Each member of staff at Premier has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of orangeries and will guide you throughout the entire process so that you get the right orangery for your home.

    • For an orangery to perform how you would like it needs to be positioned carefully as this will determine at what times of the day it is at its brightest and warmest. This can only be judged by paying a pre-installation visit to your home and figuring out where it should be situated. When an orangery faces north or east it tends to be most comfortable earlier in the day, however, for an orangery that feels just as good later in the day it needs to be pointing towards the south or west. The glass chosen will also have a bearing on this.

    • If your mind is made up about buying an orangery then you will already likely have decided upon how you wish to use the added bit of space. Just tell us what your plans are and we will be more than happy to come up with an orangery design that satisfies your needs. If it requires the inclusion of Wi-Fi, plug sockets and any other accessories then we are well accustomed to dealing with such requests.

    • There are a significant number of accessory options for orangeries and without them the extension may fail to live up to expectations. You may be unsure of which accessories your design requires but Premier are there to tell you which you might need to make it a really special place to enjoy your time. Accessorising really is key.

    • We understand how much of a financial commitment you are making when buying an orangery which is why we supply all designs with an extensive guarantee. We sincerely hope that nothing ever goes wrong with your orangery but if it does then you have the guarantee as a backup. It also covers you for any future remedial adjustments that the extension needs.

    Planning permission and building regulations...

You won’t normally have to worry about planning permission and building regulations when putting together an orangery design as most orangeries already satisfy the necessary criteria. If you do find out that planning permission is needed before the installation can go ahead then you can rely on Premier to get in touch with your local authority and organise this.
